This will put you off restaurant dining forever....

When you find out what is going on in the kitchen.

It sounded like a lesson on what NOT to do as a restaurant owner...

Don't know where you are, but in southern California a few years back a local tv station had an expose on restaurant kitchens. (Hidden cameras etc.) The outcry was such that we now have restaurants hang a grade in the window A..B..C indicating they have passed inspection.

I know there are still things we don't know about that happens to food between raising and eating, but it's an attempt....

I'm in Vermont and commute to NH for work. Our local Chinese place was clean enough, but the employees had a disconcering habit of stealing credit card numbers...
My cousin is a pharmacist in small town Georgia and has friends on the local health board. He asked them to recommend a Chinese restaurant.... They suggested he try Thai or Mexican instead.
I personally like the jurisdictions that require a numerical rating prominently displayed.

Lol! Dear god, if it's not one thing it's another!

Makes me want to start raising goats in the backyard....

Houston is fortunate to have the ancient and venerable Marvin Zindler on the local ABC news staff. Every Friday night, Marvin broadcasts his Restaurant Rat and Roach Report, listing all the violations found by health inspectors in the preceding week. His signature phrase is the most common violation... "SLIIIIIME in the ICE MACHINE!" (There's even a musical setting of the phrase.) It doesn't take very many appearances on Marvin's report before everyone knows to avoid certain restaurants.

Annually, Marvin presents his Blue Ribbon awards to restaurants not cited for anything in the preceding year. As you might expect, this list is full of repeat winners as well. One is well advised to keep track of both lists.

I don't think I'd like Marvin as a dinner guest....
