On the way home from work yesterday, I stopped at the grocery store to find lots of bare shelves, 20% off everything (30 off wine) and store closing signs. I stocked up on sh*t that I wouldn't normally buy. Then not a mile away I see a sign that my local music and "tobacco" accessory shop is also having a going out of business sale. aaaaaarrrrrgh.
A local bank that has been around forever is closing its doors and the nearby mall has several dead units.
Our town has just built up a large section for retail and a lot of them are spas and boutiques. Just waiting to see how many of those go down. It makes it real when it gets so close to home.
