Corruption in every sense of the word

Tainted food, tainted businesses, tainted ethics. China let loose on the world market is killing people with its indifference.

Dried apples preserved with a cancer-causing chemical.

Frozen catfish laden with banned antibiotics.

Scallops and sardines coated with putrefying bacteria.

Mushrooms laced with illegal pesticides.

Steve Bates of The Yellow Doggerel Democrat documents the atrocities.

I heartily agree with Paul Krugman, who recently began a column this way: "Yesterday I did something risky: I ate a salad."

If we can't have Leonardo paint us seated at a long table, maybe we should nonetheless take digital photos of ourselves before each meal, on the chance that it might be our Last Supper.
