A wasteland is exactly right. The only way the "surge" can succeed is if they lay waste to Baghdad.
Of course, when it comes time to judge the "success", the "goal posts" will have been moved to a different stadium.
And laying waste is what Bush and Cheney do best. I wonder what it is like to be with these men in a car.. looking out the back window as things explode, burn down, crash, collapse and break....
