Riverbend's response

To Maliki's reaction to the charges of rape by Shiite police:
As expected, Al Maliki is claiming the rape allegations are all lies. Apparently, his people simply asked the officers if they raped Sabrine Al Janabi and they said no. I'm so glad that's been cleared up.
[snip]
This is meant to discourage other prisoners, especially women, from coming forward and making claims against Iraqi and American forces. Maliki is the stupidest man alive (well, after Bush of course…) if he believes his arrogance and callous handling of the situation will work to dismiss it from the minds of Iraqis. By doing what he is doing, he's making it more clear than ever that under his rule, under his government, vigilante justice is the only way to go. Why leave it to the security forces and police? Simply hire a militia or gang to get revenge. If he doesn't get some justice for her, her tribe will be forced to... And the Janabat (the Al Janabis) are a force to be reckoned with.
Maliki could at least pretend the rape of a young Iraqi woman is still an outrage in todays Iraq...

boy o boy i sure hope there are a whole lot more 'reactions' and 'responses' to this story. i mean bunches and tons of response to this. .. was going to say 'story' but it could just get brushed aside as another sad 'story' out of Iraq. ho-hum, how is brtitty spears doing ? (? is that the right crisis girl this week)(whatever, you know who i mean) America wake up, heellloo. Please don't let your friends, neighbours etc get by by numbing themselves to real truth. We cannot hide from the realities. Read this stuff, get pissed, get into action, this unacceptable. help each other morph back to America the Good, the way we remember nostalgicly (even if it is fed to us by Hallmark!) We can do it folks, together we can!!

Damn right, sagemarm! These stories are ignored by the mainstream media...which is why they are losing money right and left (pun intended).

Will post an hilarious retort to journalism in general and blog-hating reporters specifically as to why we blog and turn to other bloggers for news.

One reason why I blog is to get these stories out there, to remind us that Iraqis are as human as we are. That war, what we are doing to these people is injust.

Lol! Sorry, I was blovating.

I was speaking to the mindset who see nothing wrong in going after a US 15 year old film maker who dared to show Iraqi children weeping, dead, frightened while she had the song 'Jesus Loves Me, This I Know' as the music. She received death threats and incredible hostility because she humanized 'the enemy'.

I was speaking to the viciousness that wishes to silence truth. You want to really scare yourself, read David Neiwert of Orcinus who keeps track of fascism in the US.
