Remember that winning the lotto will not make you happy, you will be hounded by piles of relatives, and often you will be bankrupt in a few years:
But that initial rush does not translate into long-term pleasure for most people. Surveys have found virtually the same level of happiness between the very rich individuals on the Forbes 400 and the Maasai herdsman of East Africa. Lottery winners return to their previous level of happiness after five years. Increases in income just don't seem to make people happier -- and most negative life experiences likewise have only a small impact on long-term satisfaction.Take note these articles were written by people who have not won the lotto.

Good idea:
Washington, D.C. (AHN) - Interior Sec. Ken Salazar on Monday temporarily stopped mining in nearly 1 million acres of public lands surrounding the Grand Canyon. The move coincides with efforts in Congress to protect the park from increasing mining claims.--------------------------------
I beg your pardon?
A panel ordered by Barack Obama to develop new US policy on the detention of so-called terrorism suspects as part of his effort to shut the Guantanamo prison, has delayed its report to the president by six months.
Aides to Obama said the task force would miss the administration's own Tuesday deadline for offering the president a full list of recommendations amid divisions between congress and the White House over the fate of Guantanamo detainees.

Collecting underpants is just phase I.
I pity all those used men who no longer have their underwear...
I blogged on Obama's preventive detention policy this morning: King Barack Advances Preventive Detention.
:D!! Mike, I don't watch South Park so you have opened my eyes! (And explained something I have wondered about that everyone has been quoting: Phase one ... ? ... Profit!)
Steve, I am hoping that Obama turns out to be this long term visionary chess player I hear about... but it doesn't look too good so far...
ellroon, as I often say, ill-begun is half undone, and Obama's beginning is downright scary. His treatment of civil liberties has been quite outside the pale, and it's not that he's been stymied by his opponents: he's done this himself. I am... how to put it politely... seriously concerned.
As I've said before... I hope I hope I hope you're wrong....
Delay that Gitmo report a few more times for 6 months, and Obama will be out of office...after all, some of those guys have been there for 8 years - what's another 6 months, more or less?
I guess that's what he meant by "close Guantanamo." Close the debate?
When does a campaign promise turn into a millstone?
