I'm ok, you're not ok.

Gee....guess we get to repeat history as the House Republicans vote for a new kind of poll tax.

In short, the Democrats do well when everyone votes. The Republicans do well when fewer people vote. The one man one vote is a Democratic ideal. The property owner voter is the Republican ideal.

If they charge for the ID, it can't pass constitutional muster. Or maybe it can, with this Court...

"One man, one vote" always reminds me of a cartoon drawn by a musician colleague when we were in Austria teaching at a summer institute 28 years ago. Confronted for the first time with one of their Catholic churches, with literally hundreds of votive candles burning near the altar, my friend sketched the scene, and captioned it "Ein Mensch, ein Votiv."

I realize they will try to hook it on to the immigration phobias, but how can this thing even be coming up for a vote?

I hope you are right about it not passing, but how many times have we thought intelligence and justice would prevail in these last five years?
