All Hail King George.

Specter's amendments to the torture bill went down. Josh Marshall puts it into simple words:

"In essence, it means that the entire criminal justice system in this country becomes discretionary in the hands of the president."

Kos asks us to rebuild the Democratic party with a spine.

Bush plans to party:
"With George W. Bush eager for a star-spangled signing ceremony as Congress adjourns this week for the election season, the House approved the administration bill by a 253-168 margin, while the Senate was expected Thursday to reject the last four amendments standing in the way of passage."
