Can't argue with the facts...

Since 1929, Republicans and Democrats have each controlled the presidency for nearly 40 years. So which party has been better for American pocketbooks and capitalism as a whole? Well, here’s an experiment: imagine that during these years you had to invest exclusively under either Democratic or Republican administrations. How would you have fared?

Nice to see that Democrats are better for the economy.

The weird thing is that control of Congress doesn't make any difference, only the President.

The best investment advice is stocks for Dems and savings for Reps, i.e. if a Dem is elected move your portfolio to stocks, but cash out if a Rep is elected.

I've known this for years.

OTOH, Reps are better for brokers because there are more trades, and brokers are paid by the trade, not whether the market is up or down.

This is intelligent advice, Bryan, thanks!

I've never really tried to understand or 'play' the market but have held on to my stocks throughout every rise and fall. I've lost more 'assumed' money because of it, but have recovered each time.

This time may be different....

How do we scrape the idiotic 'tax and spend' tag off? People don't seem to realize that we're going to pay for all of Bush's mistakes one way or another. The government runs on our money.

Anyway, what was Bush but a 'spend and spend more' Republican?
