I can't imagine why this is...

Security concerns raised as China fills U.S. medicine chest

BEIJING — The medicine cabinet in the average U.S. home is filling with drugs made in China, and some experts say that could be a prescription for trouble.

China's booming pharmaceutical industry has doubled exports to the United States in the past five years, undercutting competitors and making American consumers reliant on the safety of Chinese factories and captive to any disruptions in Sino-U.S. commerce.

I mean, China has done such a wonderful job of respecting the consumer.

I've stopped taking medicine, I just eat toys to get my RDA of lead etc.

Don't forget to brush your teeth for the antifreeze!

But... without China's "Melamine Dinerware" (sic - a literal quote from a sign in a local grocery store)... where will I get my RDA of that stuff?

I read somewhere online that several instances of Chinese "herbal Viagra" were tested and found to have some ingredients comparable to the genuine article. So if China is determined to screw us, they'll have the requisite woody.

Gahhh!

Uh... right. I was trying to buy some canned mandarin oranges today, and all the different brands, all of them were from China.

How much of what we eat is from China, and how much of it is checked?
I'm not planning to hang around to help out with the herbal Viagra....

I found a little Indian grocery nearby where they have all manner of Ayurvedic spices. There is a natural grocery where Homeopathic medicines can be found. Many options to choose from here.

People eat too many pharma poisons anyhow, it's not only bad for their health it's bad for the environment. There are detectable levels of Prozac in the water supply, I hear.

I know, I know... but we grow the trees here in the Citrus belt of California, fer gawd's sake. They're all over the place, yet we're getting them from China. It's cheaper?

I already have two orange trees and a lemon tree, I might as well go plant one more....
