That was really painful to view.

Vietnam wasn't enough for them. Forty years later, the bastards in charge had to go and give us this.

War without end, amen.

The people who DIDN'T go to Vietnam war have made sure they've given us our very own quagmire to wallow in. Isn't that nice?

That includes me, with my wrecked left knee that troubles me to this day. Also troubling me to this day are the deaths in Vietnam of a number of my classmates and other friends who were not so "lucky" as to have medical problems and hence draft exemptions.

Technology improves steadily, including military technology. Human understanding and human behavior do not improve. Sooner or later, the former phenomenon will cure the latter, the same way cancer cures smoking.

Well, I'm glad your left knee prevented you from seeing the horrors of Vietnam up close, Steve.

I've said this before, but I am still staggered by how quickly and how fast we have backpedaled into the past from where we were in January of 2001. Who knew we had so many benighted souls who so willingly gave up their Constitution to worship at the Bush altar? Who knew we had so many that had never paid attention in their history classes? Who knew we had so many fascist wannabees who snarled at anyone trying to present the truth? Where on earth did these people come from and how did we get so many of them in the Bush administration at the same time? Was there a secret brainwashing unit? A cloning factory? Will we be coping with loyal Bushies for decades?

We really haven't changed that much since the dark ages, have we? Except for faster and more interesting ways to kill each other....
