Oh, grow up!

Still obsessing over the blue dress? After HOW many years?

Via Susie Madrak of Suburban Guerrilla, ABC's Brian Ross drools in delight over Hillary Clinton's presence on the day of the 'blue dress incident'.

Is this where Brian Ross wishes to dwell? Is this where he is most comfortable? Back in the glory days of the Clinton smear campaign, baying at the head of the hounds? Was that his finest hour that he must return to the pitiful bones and gnaw at them once again?

There is a lot to say over those who obsess over other people's sex lives, but pawing over the Clinton's exposes a great deal more about the writer than about the long ago sex act. It offers nothing new.

So... who cares?

This sort of thing verges on the legal definition of obscenity. It appeals to prurient interests and has no public, artistic, or social value. If they included a descriptive reminder of what was going on, they could be busted.

The rules say that Presidential records are sealed for 12 years after the end of a Presidency, so an exception had to be made by the Clintons to get the records released. I doubt it will happen again after this abuse of the purpose.

I didn't know the Clinton's records were so protected. Good to know.

So....12 years, huh? That means Cheney and Bush will be far far away in another galaxy by the time historians can get their hands on the few scraps of paper left smoldering in Cheney's man-sized safes....

I'll never forget the interview in which Pumpkinhead... um, Tim Russert... opened by asking Hillary whether she would like to apologize for deceiving the American people about Bill's escapades. "Blame the victim" is not merely conventional wisdom among so-called conservatives... it's great fodder for the next alleged newscast.

Somewhere, on another plane, Ben Franklin is shaking his head about the depths to which his profession has sunk; meanwhile, I am continually amazed every Halloween that Russert's head is once again not harvested...

Afterthought, though not a pleasant one: what sort of men does Cheney keep in his man-sized safes?

Only manly men... none of those thinking geek types.

Did Russert really ask Hillary that? Really? Just how stupid is he? All these blatherers came to their triumphant ... peak ... during the Clinton sex scandal and they just can't help going back there, can they? Jesus.

And Ben Franklin is wiping his brow in relief. He'd never survive this political environment because he was a renowned party animal in Paris.....

Yes. I don't have his exact words, but I'm sure that was precisely the sense of his question. This is not secondhand. I saw that interview with my own eyes. It was sometime after the Monica scandal but before the 2000 sElection. Sorry I don't have a link.

From what I've read, Franklin actually contributed materially to the support of the children he seems to have fathered by the dozens. Vice or virtue, or both? I retort; you deride...

I should note that the reason for the 12 year period is not to protect a President, but to protect those who advise her/him and are not government employees.

While their advice is required to be in the records, it was thought that they needed space between when they gave their advice and when it was known.

At least that was the stated intent which the rule was put in place.

The Shrubbery has put in place an executive order saying Presidents don't ever have to release anything unless they want to. That was intended to protect people named Bush, as the records for Bush Sr. should have been available in 2004 and aren't.

Steve, good to hear Franklin helped out his progeny.

And Russert is an ego bloated twit. Wow.

Bryan, I was aware of the withholding of Bush Senior's records but assumed it was because the advisers were now working for Georgie the Lesser and didn't want people searching through papers to cause trouble. Like.. you know... finding information about how they planned to attack Iraq long before 9/11 and stuff.

So if Georgie doesn't release his papers what the hell will be stored in his library?
