Ron Paul exposed

David Neiwert of Orcinus lists the things Paul has supported. Take a good look. And realize Paul's stance on the Iraq war is the only good stand this man has taken.

Update: Via Cawdor in comments, a post by Glenn Greenwald about Neiwert's article:

On another note, I wrote in my prior post concerning Paul that I found the efforts (by Neiwert and others) to smear him by linking him to some of his extremist and hate-mongering supporters to be unfair (for reasons I explained here). Neiwert responded and compiled what he thinks is the best evidence to justify this linkage here.

For reasons I'll detail at another time, I found virtually all of that to be unpersuasive, relying almost entirely on lame guilt-by-association arguments that could sink most if not all candidates (the only arguably disturbing evidence in this regard is this 1996 Houston Chronicle article, which Neiwert didn't mention, and the pro-Paul response is here). Everyone can review the evidence -- all of which is quite old and very little of which relies on any of Paul's own statements -- and make up their own minds.

Constitutional law and civil rights litigator Glenn Greenwald, who has authored the New York Times Bestselling book "How Would a Patriot Act?," disects and deflates Neiwart's falsehood heaped on Ron paul.

Good to know, but Neiwert has just listed what Ron Paul has supported. Is there any part of the list being contested because it's pretty clear what Paul stands for.

Dave Neiwart is being totally unfair. Glenn Greenwald is absolutely correct in my opinion.

Your perception of things seems to be a bit off. The bills on the linked page are actually good pieces of work.

What, you believe I should have to work to pay for lives to get murdered? I can't pursure happiness while knowing that my effort pays for lives to get murdered. And don't give me the womans right to her body bullshit. An abortion isn't about her body, it's about the body of the separate life which exists because she made a choice to put herself in a position to get pregnant. Don't give me the "but she got raped" line either. That is a play on emotions to get people to groupthink. A tiny percentage of abortions are from rape. Should a man be able to force a woman, who raped him to get pregnant, to get an abortion if he does not want the child? No? But part of it is from his body, so why not? When conception takes place the woman doesn't have a right to kill that new life.

Abortion is a Eugenics policy. The placement of clinics and sources of funding show that in it's current form abortion is a form of ethnic cleansing and population control. I have no clue how morons can be against the Iraq War while they staunchly support paying for the murder of innocent kids here at home. It blows my mind to see someone attack Ron Paul for a $500 Nazi donation while supporting millions to be spent on their own favorite ethnic cleansing and genocide program, abortion. Seriously, you got some soul-searchin' to do.

Curtis,

You don't value human life, quite obviously. Your claims are hollow attempts to subjugate women.

I live in Texas. I've watched Ron Paul for two decades longer than most of you. And I'm here to tell you that he is a misogynist. Heaven help the women who were his patients.

(ellroon, your blog must be rising in the rankings: you're getting more hostiles. Good job!)

Is there such a thing as a non-misogynist Republican?

Auggh, Paul belongs to that crazy-ass AAPS that I've been arfing about over at my place. That tells me all I need to know about him. Batshit.

I think it's odd that he's supposed to be a libertarian and yet his record shows zero respect for womens' privacy. That's hard-core misogyny.

Thanks for identifying the AAPs connection, JJ. I appreciate reading your battles with such crazies. They are obviously driven bonkers by your blog.

Thank you, Steve. After Texas gave us Bush, I think we need to pay really close attention to those who know these politicians. Misogynist it is.

Whig, I don't think you could have a non-misogynist Republican. I think you've caught the essence of a true wingnut.

And curtis? Thanks for the comment. I think it stands on its own .... merit.

Ellroon, I admire your restraint.;)

HA! Just read his rant. It's clear he didn't come to discuss but to unload. There is no capacity for listening and understanding, so why on earth should I waste my time?

Pearls before swine and all that.
