From Cats to Jellyfish to Chickens

Friday cat blogging on Sunday.

A wonderful perspective on religion and God from a religious man.

Sexy avatars in games affect players in the real world.

I may not want to eat anything ever again.... besides... we're all gonna die anyway.

Invasion by jellyfish the world over... could it possibly be because the oceans are warming?  If not death by jellyfish, how about being choked to death by weeds?

Can you spell hypocrite?

A sensible horror film.

Elizabeth Smart is just that.  Googling women and a verb.

Republicans went crazy in stages.  Tea party logic.  Lies told in Texan charter schools.

Changing oceans.

How historically correct is 12 Years a Slave?

One way to deal with the homeless.

Infected chickens sold by Foster Farms were not recalled.

Revenge!

Letting him have it:
Protesters who marched at the home of Wisconsin state senator Randy Hopper (R-Fond du Lac) were met with something of a surprise on Saturday. Mrs. Hopper appeared at the door and informed them that Sen. Hopper was no longer in residence at this address, but now lives in Madison, WI with his 25-year-old mistress.
And adding insult to injury:
Blogging Blue also reports that Mrs. Hopper intends to sign the recall petition against her husband. The petition has already been signed by the family's maid.

Not sure how gay marriage threatens the institution of marriage ...

But why can't the wingnuts who are so threatened by gay marriage change THEIR OWN terminology of marriage? So they can go around with an arched eyebrow and a curling sneer and say,"Well, we're CHURCH SANCTIFIED married..."

Then they could even work in their own church as kind of an advertisement: "Well, we're HOLY ROLLERED CHURCH OF POINTY CELIBATE HATS SANCTIFIED..."

Just think of all the fun we could have... fighting in the aisles, pie throwing...

You first, Newt.

Let's see you dump your government funded health care.
Gingrich Calls On The Country To ‘Rise Up’ To ‘Repeal’ Health Care Reform If It Passes
Not that it would make me change my mind about supporting the public option. I'd just like you to experience one of those health fairs they are having around the country for the uninsured.

Like father...

Like daughter:

Photobucket

Call MSNBC cowards for not having the Cheneys on, but run wildly away from invitations to appear... and run to Fox News instead.

Just who is the coward here?

Prove it

I've posed this thought before to those Republicans who are so against governmental health insurance.

They need to refuse their own Congressional health insurance that they are automatically signed up for when they are elected.

Just to show how much they are against the government being involved in health care.

Really.

HOW. DARE. YOU.

Just practicing what Eli of Multi Medium is suggesting. It is so sickening to see time after time Democrats fold and crumple and apologize for things they never should apologize for. How many Republicans have apologized for the horrific things they've said?:
I’ve written a few posts about how Democrats need to start standing up for themselves, and stop validating dishonest criticism. I’m very fond of Paul Hackett’s “I said it, I meant it, I stand behind it” mantra, but I’m starting to think that it doesn’t go far enough.

When you are attacked by a hypocrite, by someone accusing you of the very thing that they themselves are guilty of, it’s not enough to simply stand your ground. You have to counterattack. You have to call them on their hypocrisy, remind everyone that their offenses against civility and decency are far, far worse than yours. I recommend that the Democrats memorize and practice these three little words, which must be incorporated into every response to phony Republican outrage:

HOW. DARE. YOU.

Go ahead, try it. Who knows, you might even like it.

Thanks, Eli, I do like it. I want the Democratic idiots who represent me in Congress to stop collapsing in a faint and stand up to the bullies in the White House. Even taking a punch in the snoot would do us proud. Just fucking stand up to them, dammit!

All that wagging of fingers under Bush's nose

And telling him to shape up....

Didn't mean anything except to polish the resumes of those running for office in 2008. They all voted against the Short-term Iraq funding bill.

Thank god for Google and YouTube. These candidates are going to come face to face with what they voted for and how much they pandered to the Bush administration. Repeatedly.

The 12 'moderates':

John Boehner, Ohio

Family Values

Mixed with a reset button:
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Republican presidential contender Rudy Giuliani has been married three times and, as it turns out, so has his wife.

Amanda Marcotte gets fan mail

From those who love Jesus.

Update: Mustang Bobby notes that Mr. Donohue might just regret the shit he's thrown (MB says it a lot more nicely than that):
I respect Ms. Marcotte for taking on the job in the first place and standing her ground. I also respect her for putting the Edwards campaign first. I have no doubt whatsoever that Mr. Donohue's attempt to "silence" her will come back to bite him far more harshly than it will Ms. Marcotte, and he may well wish that she had stayed with the campaign, observing the niceties that her position would have imposed on her.

In other words, be careful what you wish for, Mr. Donohue.

Update: Melissa of Shakespeare's Sister is also out.
