Arizona's immigration bill:
HIGH-RISK BILL: SB-1070 would require police to attempt to determine the immigration status of anyone they encounter as part of a "lawful contact" and allow them to arrest undocumented immigrants and charge them with trespass. If residents believe police officers are not enforcing immigration laws, they can sue them. It would also outlaw the hiring of day laborers off the street and prohibit anyone from knowingly transporting an undocumented immigrant for any reason. The ACLU points out that SB-1070 unconstitutionally allows the state to regulate immigration -- a power which the Constitution assigns to the federal government. The ACLU also highlights a provision of the bill that grants police officers authority to conduct warrantless arrests of anyone who cannot immediately produce documents and notes that such action has already been deemed invalid by the Ninth Circuit Court. The ACLU concludes that the bill will "exacerbate racial profiling" and tries to "rewrite the Constitution by turning the presumption of innocence on its head." Several research institutions have also cited the high fiscal costs associated with local immigration crackdowns. The National Employment Law Project pointed out that smaller-scale anti-immigrant ordinances have cost individual localities millions of dollars. The Perryman Group estimates that if all unauthorized immigrants were removed from Arizona, the state would lose $26.4 billion in economic activity, $11.7 billion in gross state product, and approximately 140,324 jobs. The Immigration Policy Center noted that, "with Arizona facing a budget deficit of more than $3 billion, Gov. Brewer might want to think twice about measure that would further imperil the state's economic future." Brewer has until Saturday to sign or veto SB-1070 before it automatically becomes state law.

One things for sure, any kind of Amnesty will be difficult to pass in this economic environment, as American unemployment continues to rise. The protection of every US workers job should be an ultimate priority.of every politician, including our national security. THE GATES OF ROME REMAIN OPEN, and savage drug dealers, criminal aliens still flow through the border. WE NEED FEDERAL TROOPS ON THE BORDER, TO STOP THIS TRAVESTY OF OUR LAWS. Pro-Amnesty Sen. Harry Reid, John McCain, Lindsey Graham, Chuck Schumer, Janet Napolitano, Nancy Pelosi and other proponents.should be first to be voted out and a resonating example made of them. Don't let these lawmakers file away E-Verify, the 287 (G) immigration ICE laws for some other distracting law as a Biometric Card. E-Verify, 287 G has been proven and modifications will stop fraudulent job applicants in future upgrades. As for Arizona they have every right to enact their own laws and not listen to the Libs-Socialist and even Marxist copy in the New York Times or the Los Angeles Times or even La Raza.. If we unite together we can stop this travesty to our Immigration laws, by learning more at NumbersUSA

NONE OF OUR IMMIGRATION LAWS HAVE BEEN FULL ENFORCED-MOST HAVE BEEN INTENTIONALLY UNDER FUNDED, SUCH AS THE BORDER FENCE. Anything to enforce immigration laws, which includes Arizona's Senate bill 1070. The sanctuary state of California having to rethink its welcoming laws as Illegal migrants fleeing from Arizona will be arriving there in huge numbers. Already struggling with 18.8 Billion dollar deficit, extra welfare recipients could impact California's economy even more? Decide on the impending Amnesty, costs, population growth, environment, collapsing infrastructure and corruption at NumbersUSA. You might call Arizona Governor Jan Brewer to give her the courage in signing into law, the first strict immigration law in years Telephone (602) 542-4331 Rasmussen poll say 70 % percent of Arizona residents--SUPPORT--this law being passed.

"...savage drug dealers, criminal aliens..."? Really?

What about those who really want a job and plan to work hard when they get one?

What about those who have family in the US and desperately want to be with them?

What about those businesses who need cheap labor? What about those people who demand cheap goods for even cheaper prices? What about the migrant work force needed to pick our crops?

What about all the social security money that is poured into our system and never retrieved?

What about recognizing the humanity of those whose lives are so bad where they are that they would be willing to risk crossing the border and meeting up with the likes of you just so they could get a job?

Are you aware that rants about immigration, illegal or not, ebb and flow? When the economy is good, we don't worry much about it. When the economy is bad, we drag out the undocumented worker/ illegal alien bad guy and beat it to death in the village square.

Everyone agrees that laws should be toughened up, illegals should be deported, walls should be build with moats and sharks with lasers.

Then the economy improves. And businesses start hiring workers again, forgetting to check for papers. Because actually... we like the cheap labor and the less than minimum wage. We like the fact they pay into social security but can't withdraw from it. We like that they are afraid to call the police and don't vote.

So.

Instead of building moats and walls and hiring gangs of rabid militia guys to roam the deserts with permission to kill, how about we address WHY they come. WHY we have illegal immigrants in the first place.

Jobs.

Safety.

Support Structure.

Diversity.

So.

Why not work with the countries the illegals are from to create jobs? It would be infinitely less expensive than building twenty foot walls or rounding up people who 'look' illegal and dumping them across the border. The ICE raids that have occurred in the last few years did just that and left little children roaming the streets and alone at day care.

Look to the cause. Try to turn off the tap at the source rather than create a dam at the end. The dam will break.

Something I've become aware of recently as well... the history of our western states is actually not that old. Not so long ago Mexico owned these lands. Not so long before that Spain was involved. Before that, the Indians.

So when there is a demand that people return to from where they came, realize that for a lot of actual Americans, they've never left. There are Americans who speak Spanish and have Mexican heritage yet were born here in the US. As well as Creole and Danish and Chinese who have been in this country for easily two hundred years.

Realize then that if we demand people leave so that this country could become what it once was.... it would be Indian.

Or Mexican.

Definitely not European nor white.

Mexican Americans? I don't know a single one of them here in South Texas who doesn't have relatives in Mexico. Most of them are good family (wo)men who drive to Mexico on the weekends... to visit their families. Many of them work here, pay income taxes, and pay Texas's unconscionably high sales tax for the dubious privilege of working here... to feed their families. Many of them do good quality work...to support their families.

Mr. Encyclopedia... what have you got against families? Your values need adjustment.

Well, Mr. Encyclopedia got his way... now we get to watch the inevitable happen.

Killings, lawsuits, Supreme Court, law to be found illegal.
