On the subject of squirrels

(for ellroon)

What critter litters on your lawn?
(A squirrel can. A squirrel can.)
What totes its nuts at dusk and dawn?
(A squirrel can. A squirrel can.)
What lands on roofs, and creeps 'neath eaves,
And pilfers, filches, nabs and thieves
Until a patient person grieves?
(A squirrel can. A squirrel can.)

What scurries over power lines?
(A squirrel can. A squirrel can.)
What skips the bill when out she dines?
(A squirrel can. A squirrel can.)
What munches seeds you left for birds,
Has manners far too rude for words,
And once he's done, leaves lots of t^>ds?
(A squirrel can. A squirrel can.)

What object, when you've had enough
(A squirrel can. A squirrel can.)
Will end this nonsense, stuff this stuff?
(A squirrel can. A squirrel can.)
What sort of trap, 'neath Moon or Sun
Will hold a squirrel, stop its run
While you depart to get your gun?
(A SQUIRREL CAN! A SQUIRREL CAN!)

The whole thing is a ref to the trash can pic (complete with sign) in the Blog sprinkles post upstream.

I confess I enjoy watching squirrels go about their busy business. I surely don't care for cleaning up after their messes, though, e.g., the ongoing leak in a practically new birdseed bag, gnawed by a squirrel and providing a steady seed feed for everyone until we pitched the whole @#$% bag. :)

I'm aware the pic of the potentially exploding trash can inspired you, Steve, but I had to post such an inspired piece.

I too, enjoy the antics of squirrels. But ever since I decided to have a theme of squirrel terrorism, squirrels have attacked my lawns, apricot tree, tomatoes.... Almost like they don't like my sense of humor.

Strange, that.
