Do you think there's a possibility this was staged? I don't know any Appalachian people, but I descend from farm folk on one side of my family, and the "hick" stereotype is simply not justified. (You should read my great aunt Mary's master's thesis on John Dos Passos.) This video is so heavy-handed that I have difficulty believing it's not a put-on.
My son says it a setup, too, Steve. But I agree with Anon, it feels real... especially the messy way it was filmed (the third guy waving his hand and trying to hide, etc). But who knows... it's cringe-worthy either way.

I've been to eastern Kentucky. It's not a put on.

If it's not a set-up, I would suspect that alcohol is involved in some way and maybe meth and oxycontin.
