Topeka, KS (CNS) - One religious group took Brokeback Mountain personally. Reverend Fred Phelps of the Westboro Baptist Church has reportedly been urging people to "picket" recently deceased actor Heath Ledger's funeral because of his participation in the film Brokeback Mountain.Wingnuts, Republicans, haters, and warmongers. They all deserve each other.
The church group apparently feels no compassion for the actor for playing a "fag" in the movie. The multi-awarded 2005 drama film is a story about two men's sexual relationship with each other in the American West.
"Yes! WBC will picket this pervert's funeral, in religious protest and warning," a flyer, which reportedly is being passed around, reads. It then goes on to include bible verses and claims "God Hates Fags! & Fag-Enablers!"
The leaflet concludes with "Heath Ledger is now in Hell, and has begun serving his eternal sentence there - beside which, nothing else about Heath Ledger is relevant or consequential."

phelps is double edged --- part of me likes when he does this because it shows more and more people what a complete lunatic and asshole he is -- and his church (which are almost all family)
but the other part says he does this for attention and gets it --- and that Ledger, Matthew Shepherd and the military guys he has disrupted deserve better.
