Houses out of Legos

Make this the next wave!  Article is from 2009, but wouldn't it be delightful?
May has set what he thinks should be a new world record: becoming the first man to live in a fully functioning house made of Lego.
 [snip]
"There are all sorts of things embodied in the Lego brick – geometry and mathematics and truth and proportion and shape and colour," says May.
"It's very deep. Everybody should have a box and play with it occasionally. It's a form of brain training as well. I can't see how it can be bad for you. Unless you tread on it."

Imagine sending info over the net

That would build a Lego house on Mars or a replacement tool in the Arctic or an appliance for your home....

Legos are back!

In my house, they've never left. I can't think of a better toy than one that lets you build anything you want.

Five years after reporting its heaviest ever loss, Lego last month said its net profit for 2008 had soared 32% to DKr1.35bn, on sales up a healthy 18.7%. Part of this recession-busting feat, Nipper concedes, is down to the fact that in times of trouble, consumers - in this case, parents - turn to "the well-known, the safe, the durable. Lego may not be the cheapest toy, but parents know it has stood the test of time, it will last years, provide hours of quality play, represent good value for their hard-earned money".

But also, he insists, Lego is cool again for kids. "Kids are ruthless little bastards," he says, only half in jest. "If they don't like the product, then at the end of the day the best marketing and distribution and all the rest of it won't make any difference. All you'll be doing is controlling the damage. What counts, all that counts, is that you're at the top of kids' wishlists. Which is, now, where we are again."

Update: Via Steve Bates of The Yellow Doggerel Democrat, if you have a lot of free time, build yourself a Lego harpsichord.

I want a house built out of Legos

And a car and a computer and ... and ...

I know they can do it because they're inventing things like this: Lego Mindstorms

If not Legos, how about Bug Labs?

The future is going to be so exciting if we don't kill ourselves first.

(Remember the snap together houses, Ikea's BoKlok? It can be done!

Don't take it home!

Who knows how many little tiny Lego people are inside it waiting to attack!:

Staff at a drinks stand in the Netherlands resort of Zandvoort were amazed to find a 2.5-meter (8-foot) Lego man washed up on the beach Tuesday. It was rescued from the water and placed upright on the beach, to the delight of children. Nobody had any idea where the smiling Lego figure had come from, but there was speculation it might have come over from England, while suspicious pundits on the Web site Reddit feared it might be a Trojan horse "full of small Lego people about to attack Holland."
