Pat Robertson's message to Haiti

Photobucket

(CNN) -- Pat Robertson, the evangelical Christian who once suggested God was punishing Americans with Hurricane Katrina, says a "pact to the devil" brought on the devastating earthquake in Haiti.

Officials fear more than 100,000 people have died as a result of Tuesday's 7.0-magnitude earthquake in Haiti.

Robertson, the host of the "700 Club," blamed the tragedy on something that "happened a long time ago in Haiti, and people might not want to talk about it."

The Haitians "were under the heel of the French. You know, Napoleon III and whatever," Robertson said on his broadcast Wednesday. "And they got together and swore a pact to the devil. They said, 'We will serve you if you will get us free from the French.' True story. And so, the devil said, 'OK, it's a deal.' "

Following his logic, if something bad happens to Robertson, the devil made a secret pact with him?

Why on earth would anyone want to do anything with Robertson's 'God'?

Update: Apparently God can't protect his churches from pacts with the devil? Just who is the stronger in Robertson's weird little religion?

I'm amazed he hasn't come out and said God told him about this horror... after all, he's hopefully predicted nuclear strikes on the US for a while now...

The bible is loaded with stories of God getting pissed off with humanity and using natural disasters to commit mass murder...
For some folks, today is no different...God as unspeakably brutal..

Never thought I'd see the names of Hannibal Lecter and God quoted together....

And I never bought into the story of a vengeful God. It never made any sense to deliberately create a Tree of Life and then tell the creations you've made not to eat of the tree. Talk about setting up something for failure. How about NOT MAKING THE TREE OR THE SNAKE in the the first place? How about teaching mankind rather than just arbitrarily smiting them?

I could go on. But the general consensus is that Robertson is verifiably insane and/or senile. Probably it's because of his pact with the devil...

No doubt about it: like a sausage, Robertson is packed with the Devil...

And what about Jeebus...didn't he pay for everyones sins so we'd all get a "pardon"
Wasn't there some kind of rainbow promise he (God) wouldn't do mass killings anymore ...

Sorry about the Hannibal quote ...
That image of Hannibal admiring God's handiwork has stuck with me for some reason..

Don't apologize, Dusty! Your point is logical, and Lecter really does fit nicely in a conversation about Robertson.

Having grown up in a religious household and slowly evolving away from it has been an eye-opener for me. I now can see amazingly convoluted arguments can be made to get any result you want using only the Bible.

And yes, if you join the Jeebus club for the low low price of your soul, you too can be forgiven for anything you want to do! Amen!

Steve, stuffing that pun onto the thread was certainly not mincing words!

A little more crassly said than I would put it... but...

Robertson doesn't have to bend to such earthy needs... does he?
