Great. We let Cheney travel outside of the US

And look what happens!

London, England (AHN) - Cardiff University scientists are scheduled to study the mystery of the earth's exposed crust that spans thousands of kilometers and is located in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. The earth's crust is its outermost surface that is normally about 40 kilometers thick beneath continents, and an estimated 10 kilometers thick underneath oceans.

The team will be headed by marine geophysicist Professor Roger Searle and traveling midway between the Cape Verde Islands and Caribbean via the new UK research ship RRS James Cook on March 5.

Marine geologist, Dr Chris MacLeod, School of Earth, Ocean and Planetary Sciences said: "This discovery is like an open wound on the surface of the Earth. Was the crust never there? Was it once there but then torn away on huge geological faults? If so, then how and why?"

The scientists will be using a robotic seabed drill and sonars to take an image of the seafloor.
