John McCain misspoke and confused his African countries while talking to reporters on the Straight Talk Express today. This time, he was bailed out not by Joe Lieberman, but by his close aide Mark Salter. “How can we bring pressure on the government of Somalia?” McCain asked, which prompted Mark Salter to correct him. “Sudan,” Salter said. “Sudan,” McCain repeated. “There’s a realpolitik side of my view of the conduct of American foreign policy.”Should we be concerned yet?

Gee... crashing 5 jets, being made a prisoner of war
And being acknowledged as a decorated war hero apparently makes you qualified to be president:

whereas being just a decorated war hero doesn't:

As John Kerry had his Swiftboaters and mockers:

John McCain also has his detractors: Vietnam Veterans Against McCain, blaming him for the Forrestal fire, questioning why flying 20 hours of missions would make anyone presidential, reminding people that Kerry even thought briefly of making McCain his running mate when McCain toyed with switching parties.

Obama responds to the fake Wesley Clark rumpus.
Update: Mustang Bobby at Bark Bark Woof Woof has more.
whereas being just a decorated war hero doesn't:
The media frenzy that has followed retired Gen. Wesley Clark's comments on the June 29 edition of CBS' Face the Nation is based on at least two false premises: first, that Clark attacked Sen. John McCain's military service, and second, that his comment -- that one's, in this case McCain's, military heroism alone does not establish his qualification to be president -- is in any way extraordinary or unusual. As Media Matters for America has noted, Clark did not attack McCain's military service; he praised McCain as a "hero." Moreover, Clark's comments were far from the first time someone has said of a war veteran running for president that his military service alone does not make him qualified to be president.Early ads run by John McCain emphasizes his war experience and oddly ignore Iraq.

Does Chris Matthews ever actually think
Before he opens his mouth and lets us all see his ... world view?
On the June 30 edition of MSNBC's Hardball, host Chris Matthews teased an upcoming segment by saying: "Up next: They're the working-class white voters Hillary won and Barack didn't. Can Obama win over the regular folks against John McCain?" During the following segment, which he started by asking "who will win the working-class vote this election, Barack Obama or John McCain," Matthews said to Reihan Salam, associate editor of The Atlantic, "I want you to tell me how the Republican Party can win the working stiff, the regular person who makes a regular income."Um... I don't think Chris Matthews is 'regular folks' either...
Should I be worried?

Gestures you should not do while overseas
Because they could get you killed.
Things like making a thumbs up gesture in certain areas is equivalent to giving someone the finger:

So we really should explain how some other gestures also can be mistranslated in other countries.
Giving unwanted massages is rude:

As is publicly rubbing bald heads for sexual pleasure:

Eating with your mouth open:

Sitting with your legs far apart to demand admiration of your package:

Pretending to be a leader while playing dress-up:

Or maybe trying to run the press over while laughing:

Even invading a sovereign country is considered the height of rudeness and can cause international repercussions... so select your elected officials well or there could be difficulties.

It must be nice to have so many houses
That it's easy to forget to pay taxes on one of them:
Via Huffpost, Newsweek reports that John and Cindy McCain have failed to pay taxes on their beach-front home in La Jolla, California, for the last four years and are about to enter into default. The article reports that the McCains had been delinquent in paying taxes until Newsweek inquired about the matter. The McCains then paid off $6,744.42 in back taxes, but still owe more.
