Firestarter5, Iraq is a walk in the park in comparison to what Iran would be. Then why all the US wargames off the coast of Iran, all the 'code' statements and threats? Why all this work in breaking the country's unspoken taboo on using nukes?
I don't trust Bush and this administration at all. And when given choices on how deeply and moronically Bush will act, I chose the worst.
I don't think we will get through the next two years without some sort of nuke attack on Iran, or at least the blowing up of their nuclear reactors. Probably after some convenient attack on one of our warships....
This possibility occurred to me before the speech, but I briefly convinced myself (not for the first time) that no, Bush wouldn't really do that, would he. Now, after hearing the speech and reading enough analysis confirming my worst intuitions, I just want to go back to bed and stick my head under the pillows.
Like Bryan, I am coming to see impeachment, however unpalatable, as the only remaining solution. At this rate, we may soon have enough Republican senators to obtain a conviction. If not, we may have a regional conflagration, with a world in flames not far behind.
I've often asked what sort of world Bush envisions his daughters growing up in. The short answer appears to be... he doesn't, and they won't, because everybody's going to be raptured before then, and he's going to make it happen.

Interesting that no one has ever directly asked him if he believes in the Rapture....
