Stupid is as stupid does...

Ann Coulter said what?    You mean all those lone white male shooters were ... fake?

Harassing a man who helped during the Sandy Hook tragedy because... um... he uh.. because Sandy Hook is a conspiracy to take away your anti-tank gun.  And James Yeager, Tactical Response CEO is apologizing for threatening to kill people with the guns people are trying to take away from him because um.. bad press?...

No, rape does not happen by 'accident'.  And in India,  some are sure it's the Western World's fault.  (And thankfully, some are sure it's not.)

Fast food is killing us.

What denying access to abortions does to women.

What 'nuclear gerrymandering' will do.

When rightwing blowhards think all the armed crazies are on their side

They'll say anything hoping for an 'unfortunate incident' for which they will obviously be blameless.

Michael (Weiner) Savage (did you know this guy once hung out with Timothy Leary and Allen Ginsberg?!!):

Earlier this week on his radio show, Michael Savage vowed to post pictures and other ‘pertinent information’ about the staff of watchdog group Media Matters for America. In a statement during his radio show today he appeared to back off, saying only that an unidentified person was researching publicly available information such as the group’s tax filings. Non-profit organizations must file IRS form 990 and are available for public inspection.

Apparently his call for right wing talkers and fellow travelers to rise up against this media watchdog was met with a resounding silence. His attempt to push back and silence his critics appears to be a failure. It is difficult for Savage to push back against reporting that includes recordings of his own words.
Ann Coulter: Don't shoot an abortionist if you really really don't want to....

Keith Olbermann's response to Ann Coulter:

Spocko of Spocko's Brain
hoists the rightwingers on their own petard.

Brave Sir Beck runs away

From his own words urging the very thing that has happened to Dr. Tiller and Stephen Tyrone Johns, the security guard. He wants an uprising? Well, he's got one. The lunatics are armed to the teeth (thanks to the Congress and the NRA); they have been supplied with books and websites and tv shows and articles telling them who to hate and why as well as where they live and work; and they're frantic because a black man is actually making the government work the way it's supposed to.

Own it, Glenn Beck. This is all yours. Yours along with Rush Limbaugh, Bill O'Reilly, Anne Coulter, Michael Savage, Michelle Malkin, and all the rest of the 'pundits' who spew hate constantly.

You wanted this to happen and now you can't just walk away from it. Come back and take a look at the bloody broken bodies your hate speech results in.

Nobody is surprised but you. Why is that?

Update: A man who actually knows what it is like taking on hate speech. Go Spocko!

Take away voting rights from those silly little bitches

Ann Coulter quoted by Think Progress:
Earlier this week, Ann Coulter told The New York Observer that she believes women shouldn’t have the right to vote:

If we took away women’s right to vote, we’d never have to worry about another Democrat president. It’s kind of a pipe dream, it’s a personal fantasy of mine, but I don’t think it’s going to happen. And it is a good way of making the point that women are voting so stupidly, at least single women.

Ann reminds me of the Serena Joy character in The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood: (my bold)
Though Serena had been an advocate for traditional values and the establishment of the Gileadean state, her bitterness at the outcome—being confined to the home and having to see her husband copulating with a Handmaid—suggests that spokeswomen for anti-feminist causes might not enjoy getting their way as much as they believe they would. Serena’s obvious unhappiness means that she teeters on the edge of inspiring our sympathy, but she forfeits that sympathy by taking out her frustration on Offred. She seems to possess no compassion for Offred. She can see the difficulty of her own life, but not that of another woman.

The climactic moment in Serena’s interaction with Offred comes when she arranges for Offred to sleep with Nick. It seems that Serena makes these plans out of a desire to help Offred get pregnant, but Serena gets an equal reward from Offred’s pregnancy: she gets to raise the baby. Furthermore, Serena’s offer to show Offred a picture of her lost daughter if she sleeps with Nick reveals that Serena has always known of Offred’s daughter’s whereabouts. Not only has she cruelly concealed this knowledge, she is willing to exploit Offred’s loss of a child in order to get an infant of her own. Serena’s lack of sympathy makes her the perfect tool for Gilead’s social order, which relies on the willingness of women to oppress other women. She is a cruel, selfish woman, and Atwood implies that such women are the glue that binds Gilead.

Spocko just became a verb as Mike Savage and Ann Coulter are finding out.

Spocko reminds us of how to tell a funny joke

From a crass one. Spocko:
I also know the difference between "gallows", insult, and "ranking" humor. I understand ironic, sick and dirty jokes. I can spot something that is NOT a joke but people laugh at it because if they didn't laugh it would destroy the conceit developed for people like Coulter that EVERYTHING repugnant or offensive is simply A JOKE. Because if the comment is seen as WHAT it really is, the serious views of the commenter, decent humans the world over would find the views disgusting and shun the people who trade in those comments.

You learn something about the PEOPLE who laugh at disgusting things as much as the people who tell the "jokes." And I'm not talking about people laughing at black or gallows humor. *I*, and most humans, know the difference.

Spocko illustrates what Ann finds funny:
On ABC Radio/Disney station KSFO 560 AM in SF on July 27th 2006 Ann Coulter was talking to Lee Rodgers, Melanie Morgan and Tom Benner (whose pseudonym is "Officer Vic") about the bombing in Southern Lebanon. The first person talking is Lee Rodgers.

Ann Coulter: "On the bright side we hit a couple of UN peacekeepers."
Melanie Morgan: laughs
Officer Vic: "Look at those blue helmets go flyin'"
Coulter: "Somebody has to tell Israel about the installation on 42nd street."
Laughter

Faced with facts, deny:

Coulter shrugged it off disdainfully, and insisted that conservatives will continue to embrace her. “This is the same thing we go through every six months. I say something, the same people become hysterical, and that’s the end of it. I mean I think the lesson young right-wingers ought to draw from this is: it’s really not that scary to attack liberals.”
Ann?

NEW YORK, March 6 Three companies say they will pull ads from the Web site of New York political commentator Ann Coulter who called a prominent Democrat a faggot. Verizon, Sallie Mae and Georgia-based NetBank said after customer complaints regarding the right wing commentator's comments about Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards that they will pull their ads from the site, CNN reported Tuesday.

Ann Coulter is the face of the new Republicans

Ugly thoughts said in a nice way are so much better than good thoughts said with obscenities.

Here are some of her oh-so-nicely worded ugliness that wins her applause:

"My only regret with Timothy McVeigh is he did not go to the New York Times Building."

"We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity. We weren't punctilious about locating and punishing only Hitler and his top officers. We carpet-bombed German cities; we killed civilians. That's war. And this is war."

To a disabled Vietnam vet: " People like you caused us to lose that war."

"[The] backbone of the Democratic Party [is a] typical fat, implacable welfare recipient"

"[Clinton] masturbates in the sinks."

"If you don't hate Clinton and the people who labored to keep him in office, you don't love your country."

On Rep. Christopher Shays (D-CT) in deciding whether to run against him as a Libertarian candidate: "I really want to hurt him. I want him to feel pain."

"I think [Whitewater]'s going to prevent the First Lady [Hillary Clinton] from running for Senate."

"We're now at the point that it's beyond whether or not this guy is a horny hick. I really think it's a question of his mental stability. He really could be a lunatic. I think it is a rational question for Americans to ask whether their president is insane."

"We need somebody to put rat poisoning in Justice Stevens' creme brulee. That's just a joke, for you in the media."

"Liberals love America like O.J. loved Nicole."

"There are a lot of bad republicans; there are no good democrats."

"We need to execute people like (John Walker Lindh) in order to physically intimidate liberals."

Nice woman. She doesn't say fuck or shit.

Update: She says faggot though.

Update 3/5: Mustang Bobby observes:
Let's see if the GOP and the RNC and the busybodies who beat the crap out of the Edwards campaign for hiring bloggers Amanda Marcotte and Melissa McEwan will give equal time to condemning Ms. Coulter for outdoing anything Ms. Marcotte and Ms. McEwan wrote on their blogs. (If you don't see the difference between making snarky comments about the Catholic priest pedophile scandal and calling a presidential candidate a faggot, stop reading now and have your hypocrisy meter tested by a professional.) Let's see if Ms. Coulter's next appearance on TV, be it Hardball, CNN, or Today gets the kind of fawning attention she's accustomed to where the host joshes along with her and closes out by asking her back.

It's ironic that Ann Coulter gets back into the news on the day they buried Anna Nicole Smith in the Bahamas. One white bombshell out, the next one in. And it's interesting how both women are icons: the late Ms. Smith represented all the tabloid excess of the glitterati and embarrassed the hell out of anyone else in the acting profession when they heard her referred to as an actor or a "Hollywood celebrity." Ms. Coulter is the biggest draw for young conservatives today; they line up around the block to get her autograph and gush about how she truly speaks the mind of the conservative movement in America today.
Republican icon = Ann Coulter. How richly they deserve her.
