Do we really need to list why we despise Dick Cheney?

Because even those who cheered him on during his reign of terror seem to have woken up.

(An aside... I've never been really clear when to use awakened, woke, awake etc.... so this was fun to find.)

Update: Robert Sheer takes a whack at the Cheney ego.

"... awakened, woke, awake etc."

Choose based on your requirements for meter and possibly rhyme, of course!

Do you awake? Wake up? Were you awakened by those who woke up or who were woken up by the sun?

Another word is lit, past tense of light. I don't usually use lighted.

That and the stupid 'normalcy'. WHO uses this word? It's NORMALITY. *sheesh*

But then I know my grammar is truly mangled in other places ... like I really like splitting my infinitives etc.

(The captcha is 'witymet'. Clever friends planning to hang out?)

'Normalcy' was revived from obscurity by Warren G. Harding in 1920. I think I knew that, once long ago.

I am almost always awakened (woken up, etc.) by Stella, who awakens (wakes up, etc.) long before I do to go to her day job.

(CAPTCHA text: "altrap" ... sounds like a kind of music.)

altrap? all the time? Oh no! Does the Von Trapp family sings you awake with their yodeling?

:)

I was hyphenating it "alt-rap" ...

A few times early in my career as a recorder teacher I was compelled to use the Trapp Family Method. It's not a bad book, except that it takes you from zero to the Brandenburg 2 recorder part in 10 "easy" lessons. Eventually I found books more suited to actual human beings.

CAPTCHA: "wories" ... all mine are behind me, except those ahead of me...

Trapp Family Method? You vill obey...

Sorry. Bad joke. Of course you would be more contemporary and have alt-rap rather than all Trapp...

What would alternative rap sound like? Mozart?

CAPTCHA: Salabbyx... Salad box? Something to do with salacious ibexes? A disease?

Actually, if you can believe "The Sound of Music," the von Trapp family was fleeing the Nazis, not acting like them.

Long ago, I plowed through the book Maria von Trapp wrote... very dull and very very Germanic. Nothing like the movie.
