In Austin some decades ago, I attended a workshop on Hispanic early music. One of the scheduled events was a concert to be held in the Unitarian church. Between classes, a lot of us were sitting at a large table in the lobby of the classroom building at UT. A lutenist with a fundamentalist bent started ranting when she saw the concert poster: Unitarians were, she said, "dangerous." Of course she didn't know that I was a UU, so I casually said that I hadn't noticed that I was dangerous. She did not relent. In fact, she lectured me on the dangers, or at least she did until I left my seat and walked away.
She found me dangerous... I found her scary. And things have not improved since those days.
Unitarians are probably the closest thing to the messages that Jesus was trying to impart: tolerance and love. Which is why she considered you dangerous. And why I consider her freaking horrific....

Wow. That's a great take on freedom of religion!
Lord help us. I'm positive Jesus would not recognize these people as anything but lost souls.....
