Well we've gone from 'everybody thought there were WMDs' to 'manipulated'.

Do I hear a 'lied to the American people', 'grossly and deliberately distorted and stovepiped the evidence', 'falsefied intelligence reports' or maybe even 'created their own reality and ran with it'?

No. But we are now being told the Bush administration's actions weren't illegal or unauthorized but might have been a bit ... inappropriate, :
Senate Armed Services Committee that the office headed by former Pentagon policy chief Douglas J. Feith took "inappropriate" actions in advancing conclusions on al-Qaida connections not backed up by the nation's intelligence agencies.

Gimble said that while the actions of the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy "were not illegal or unauthorized," they "did not provide the most accurate analysis of intelligence to senior decision makers" at a time when the White House was moving toward war with Iraq.

(Excuse me while I scream at my monitor.... inappropriate? INAPPROPRIATE??)

This has got to be the fucking understatement of the fucking century. Inappropriate.

Bush and Cheney's entire Iraq adventure, and of the PNAC has been inappropriate. People have DIED because of this inappropriateness.

Thanks a whole hell of a lot, inappropriately of course.

Update: Just a reminder of the type of people who are dying for this ... inappropriateness.

I keep on visualizing the smoke-filled room of the nascent PNAC group. Huddled around a table with diagrams and wishful thinking.

"If only we could get our hands on the government for one..two terms!! We could change everything! Rule the world! Control the oil! Everyone would bow to the mighty Americans..."

Their reality in the clouds... and look what it did to us on the ground.
