Grand Canyon is apparently only 6010 years old

Dragging this post up from below because of this wonderful response.

Ellroon -

Thanks for this. It does raise the question of whether Chimpy knows that "The Flintstones" was a cartoon, not a documentary.

These people never cease to amaze me.

I would attempt to determine the age of the fossil that is George W. Bush, but such a comparison would be an insult to the intelligence of real fossils. Besides, he is so hard-headed that ordinary field geologists' tools would be useless in making the determination...

I don't know.... The rock hammer might make a bit of a dent, but I doubt it would knock some sense into him..

Approximately 6010 years ago is the dawn of civilization. That's all the dating is from, the idea that this is controlling as to the age of what pre-existed civilization is absurd.

It's a good metaphor not to be confused with what actually takes place beyond our ability to describe.

This attitude is so fearful and childish, unable to conceive of life without man, or without them personally. Things must be set in stone! A shifting world with constant changes is a threatening one.

As a former national park ranger, I was skeptial of PEER's claims. After researching the matter, I found most of the claims to be wildly inaccurate and blatantly false.

Also consider that the bookstore in question is operated by the Grand Canyon Association, a PRIVATE, non-profit organization, not the government.

Don't believe everything you read:

Thanks, I will check this out. Good to know the truth, even if it isn't as fun as the rumors.
