I have a feeling there are going to be a lot of reluctant new vegetarians out there, not that sprout-eating is a sure protection against foodborne illness...
ellroon, AFAIC, you can feed them to your dogs. I wish I loved squirrels, but I don't, and as for raccoons, they're too damned smart... ever since one of them successfully opened a metal canister of dry cat food near the door of my apartment, I haven't trusted them as far as I could (theoretically) throw them.
I can't garden, and Stella doesn't have time (gawd, that gal can work a lot!), so I end up spending a fortune on organic products. Luxury Lettuce in a salad was today's lunch... bagged organic Romaine hearts for far too many $. But it's what looked edible.
BTW, on my site, that pic of kitty Lily standing tall on two legs was facilitated by squirrel activity in the back yard.
I've seen squirrels taunting the indoor kitties. I swear they call them names...
Organic foods are the way to go... as long as you trust the store selling you the stuff. Some unethical people have been caught reselling regular produce as organic.

Yes... as much as I like meat, I can do without and be better for it.
And I'm going to plant my own vegetable garden.
But if I catch any damned squirrels, raccoons or possums... can I eat them?
