Explaining Granddad Prescott Bush's legacy

Via Michael of Cannablog:

Wikipedia:

The Business Plot (also known as the Plot Against FDR or the White House Putsch) was an alleged political conspiracy in 1933 in which several wealthy businessmen allegedly planned to overthrow the presidency of Franklin D. Roosevelt.

Details of the alleged plot came to light in early 1934, when retired Marine Corps Major General Smedley Butler testified before the McCormack-Dickstein Congressional Committee.[1] In his testimony, Butler claimed that a group of men had approached him as part of a plot to overthrow Roosevelt in a military coup. One of the alleged plotters, Gerald MacGuire, vehemently denied any such plot. In their final report, the Congressional committee supported some of Butler's allegations,[2] but no prosecutions or further investigations followed, and the matter was mostly forgotten.

Thanks, ellroon, for posting this. That may be the most provocative half-hour of video I've watched in a long time.

DC, in the Atwater/Rove era, this sort of projection by the GOP... accusing their opponents of something that rightly describes their own activities... has become a GOP signature.

Bush really did step in it, big time.

Talking about projection, I'm just waiting for the wingnuts to start using the word 'Manchurian candidate' to describe Obama.

They mean a mystery candidate who is an unknown. Keith Olbermann points out that the movie is about a candidate who was a prisoner of war in an Asian country who was brainwashed to be controlled by their foreign agents.... McCain, anyone?

Oh, I forgot... "White House Putsch" reminded me of a bumper sticker I saw which read, "Putsch/Chicanery". That was back in 2000.

Ha! I've learned a new word..."putsch", and now I understand the bumpersticker.

The stuff I get to google...
