If they are too fat.
How about taking them away if they show any tendency towards being a Republican, believe in UFOs, know the FDA is doing a great job keeping our food safe, trust our medical system and doctors implicitly, or think Bush is a good president?
Update: More on how dieting doesn't work. Eating crap and not exercising is the danger.

My cousin's cardiologist gave him gave a eating guideline.
"If it tastes good, spit it out."
Speaking in generalities, Americans tend to eat as if it's their last meal. Europeans tend to eat for the experience and their meals can go on for one or two hours. Cramming in a rush or savoring...
Slow down, you go too fast...

sc, most nutritionists I've known... and having worked with serious nutrition researchers for about 10 years some years back, that's a lot of nutritionists... think that advice is bullshit. But it's unsurprising: MD's are not, by and large, trained in nutrition in med school or later, and cardiologists in particular are sure to see the worst examples of dietary abuse among their patients.
Healthful, flavorful eating is possible, even easy; it's just not typical in America today. Habits need to change... but the pleasures of eating need not be sacrificed.
The hardest desires to change are the tastes for sugar and fat. I believe those are hardwired in from the days where humans did not ever get enough.
And now we get too much...
Humanity hasn't been very good in moderation in general. It seems many mid-range restaurants have learned you can charge more for huge portions rather than charge more for smaller, better tasting portions
Supersize it!
