You never turn your back on the dead monster in the movies

He'll always get up and be worse the next time around.

Glenn Greenwald:
"The reason Bush violated the law when eavesdropping is the same reason Lithwick cites to explain his other lawless and extremist measures -- because he wanted purposely not to comply with the law in order to establish the general "principle" that he was not bound by the law, to show that he has the power to break the law, that he is more powerful than the law. This is a President and an administration that are obsessed first and foremost with their own power and with constant demonstrations of their own strength. Conversely, what they fear and hate the most is their own weakness and submission to limitations.

For that reason, the weaker and more besieged the administration feels, the more compelled they will feel to make a showing of their power. Lashing out in response to feelings of weakness is a temptation most human beings have, but it is more than a mere temptation for George Bush. It is one of the predominant dynamics that drives his behavior.

His party suffered historic losses in the 2006 midterm elections as a result of profound dissatisfaction with his presidency and with his war, and his reaction was to escalate the war, despite (really, because of) the extreme unpopularity of that option. And as Iraq rapidly unraveled, he issued orders that pose a high risk of the conflict engulfing Iran. When he feels weak and restrained, that is when he acts most extremely."

Update: Read more on Bush's personality disorder:
"First and foremost, George W. Bush is a Narcissistic Personality Disorder. What this means, mostly, is that he has rather desperate insecurities about himself, and compensates by constructing a grandiose self-image. Most of his relationships are either mirroring relationships--people who flatter him and reinforce his grandiosity--or idealized self-objects--people that he himself thinks alot of, and hence feels flattered by his association. Some likely perform both functions. Hence his weakness for sycophants like Harriet Miers, and powerful personalities like Dick Cheney."

My concern now is that the tyrant is holding the American soldiers hostage because even if congress were to cut funds he has no intention of removing them, he'd cut their ammunition and leave them sitting ducks.

He'd love that. He could then whine and point fingers of blame. Anything to scrape the responsiblity for the mess he's created onto the Democratic Congress. He is physically unable to have empathy, it is always about saving his sorry ass.

So what do you think we should do?

The entire country is yelling no at him right now and he's still scuttling off to fix his war with more troops.

Can we fire him? Make him resign? I'm just astonished he's so bunkered he can't see the torches and hear the peasants running with pitchforks...

Impeachment is problematic, if the senate won't convict and remove -- and we'd need 2/3 not just a majority, which is not conceivably possible right now.

I'm going to suggest you do what I'm about to do, which is to go take some cannabis and maybe find some music to post to my blog, because there is a lot more information bandwidth in music than most people realize.

Lol, I don't smoke nor drink, but I will run over to your blog to hear the music!

Here 'tis.

I prefer vaporizing to smoking, myself.

Ellroon - the man is hung like a bee, and is compensating for his feeling of inadequacy. It is the Napolean complex writ large.

Oh great. Prevent future wars by giving 'growth' hormones to little boys...
