While honoring Ford

Cheney wistfully mentions pardoning:
""It was this man, Gerald R. Ford, who led our republic safely though a crisis that could have turned to catastrophe," said Cheney, speaking in the Capitol Rotunda where Ford's body rested in a flag-draped casket. "Gerald Ford was almost alone in understanding that there can be no healing without pardon."

Strangely, he did not mention resigning in disgrace, breaking the law, or impeachment...

I remember the news when Starr concluded his review of everything and tried to quietly close down and creep away. Nothing found, nothing illegal.

That's why Monica became so important and made the Republicans look so perverted going through dirty underwear.

During the Clinton witch hunt the chant was 'Rule of Law'. But look what they have supported without oversight and without question. And look where it took us...to the brink of disaster.

I take Cheney's statement more as a threat, that there will be no peaceful surrender unless a guarantee of pardon is made.

I suspect there was a deal made in the case of Dick Nixon as well, that he would resign rather than resist impeachment, in return for a promise of pardon.

Of course, if we keep doing it that way, they'll keep doing this shit.

Lessee...Cheney leaves for health problems, Bush pardons him. Bush annoints McCain or somebody to be VP. Bush resigns and gets McCain to pardon him. President McCain takes Lieberman as VP turning the Senate Republican. Bush and Cheney join Kenny Lay, Osama and Saddam in their lair in Paraguay.
