Details from ABC and CBS. She's 59, in the Air Force Reserve, a nurse, being sent to Afghanistan not Iraq, and apparently keen on doing this... there's no accounting for taste or sanity.

The news here is not whether she wants to go. It's why in the name of everything rational the USAF is calling her up. How desperate has the situation become? Senior citizens should be called up when the marauding hordes are scaling the city walls here at home, and not sooner.

I know she says she's happy to go, but I still think this should be publicized by Democrats everywhere as evidence of the depth of Bush's failure in the War on Terra [sic].

I don't care if she wanted to go, it's whether they need her to go or not. It smacks of the same beating of the bushes for able-bodied men in Germany at the end of WWII where the very young and very old were being conscripted.

It shows the military is broken.
