Interesting, this WaPo article about YouTube "To the Media, YouTube Is a Threat and a Tool"
only addresses the copyright issues with entertainment.
It does not address the fantastic capabilities in the political arena. More than downloaded movies and tv shows, look at the immediate archive searching of Bush's speeches for the phrase "stay the course", the experiences of the US soldiers in Iraq, or like today, the beating up of an aggressive reporter trying to address George Allen. A politician's blunders are now immediate and irretrievable.
The 'common man' now has the ability to circumvent the mainstream media to get news, see it up close and personal, and relay it to others.
No wonder it is a threat.
