The war on Christmas escalates!
Bremerton, WA (AHN) - A Washington man is going all out to show his disdain for Christmas commercialism. And if this is not enough tragedy:In lieu of the traditional snowman or the nativity scene, Art Conrad has put up a Santa Claus nailed to a 4.5-meter crucifix in front of his house.
Neighbors and onlookers were naturally curious but Conrad has a ready explanation.
"Santa has been perverted from who he started out to be...Now he's the person being used by corporations to get us to buy more stuff," Conrad explains.
But that is not all. He sends friends Christmas cards that will make people behind Hallmark cringe.
He has a photo of the crucified Santa with the message: "Santa died for your MasterCard."
Even if some people around the Bremerton neighborhood are offended, Conrad says it is just his way of injecting fun into Christmas commercialism, an issue that people refuse to talk about, much less criticize.
Wellington - A gang of drunken Santas ran riot through a Christchurch cinema complex at the weekend, pushing families waiting to see the film Enchanted, ripping posters off the walls and shouting "Ho, f....... ho," a newspaper reported on Monday. "They were kicking things over, ripping down posters and smashing everything in sight," said Kate Gorman, 35, who was in the cinema with her two children, aged 6 and 7.Somebody call Bill O'Reilly! We are under attack! Our borders are awash with nude drunken Santas! Film at eleven!
She told The Press that the children had asked her, "Are they Santa's helpers gone crazy?" And she had told them, "No, they are just idiots."
The cinema had to be evacuated for about 30 minutes after the drunken crowd left through an emergency door setting off a fire alarm.

War on Christmas

The War on Christmas continues
"A South Carolina boy, 12, was arrested Sunday morning after his mother called police to report that he had unwrapped a Christmas present without her permission. According to a Rock Hill Police Department report (a copy of which you'll find below), the child opened a Nintendo Game Boy, though he had been directed not to by family members. When the boy's mother learned that the $85 gift had been opened, she called cops, who charged the juvenile with petty larceny. In an interview with The Herald newspaper, the boy's mother, a 27-year-old single parent, described her son as a disruptive child, noting that she hoped his arrest would serve as a corrective to disorderly behavior at school and home."

Well, that was short.
"DENVER, Colorado (AP) — A subdivision has withdrawn its threat of $25 daily fines against a homeowner who put a Christmas wreath shaped like a peace sign on the front of her home.
Homeowner Lisa Jensen told The Associated Press on Monday that the board of directors of the Loma Linda Homeowners Association had apologized, called the incident a misunderstanding and had withdrawn its request for the wreath’s removal."
Update: The entire town gets in the act:
"In any case, there are now more peace symbols in Pagosa Springs, a town of 1,700 people 200 miles southwest of Denver, than probably ever in its history.
On Tuesday morning, 20 people marched through the center carrying peace signs and then stomped a giant peace sign in the snow perhaps 300 feet across on a soccer field, where it could be easily seen.
“There’s quite a few now in our subdivision in a show of support,” Mr. Trimarco said.
A former president of the Loma Linda community, where Mr. Trimarco lives, said Tuesday that he had stepped in to help form an interim homeowners’ association.
The former president, Farrell C. Trask, described himself in a telephone interview as a military veteran who would fight for anyone’s right to free speech, peace symbols included.
Town Manager Mark Garcia said Pagosa Springs was building its own peace wreath, too. Mr. Garcia said it would be finished by late Tuesday and installed on a bell tower in the center of town."

Starting the Season with a shot across the bow.
So I guess this means this starts the War on the War on Christmas or Who Would Jesus Bomb?
"[Bob Kearns, president of the Loma Linda Homeowners Association in Pagosa Springs] ordered the committee to require Jensen to remove the wreath, but members refused after concluding that it was merely a seasonal symbol that didn’t say anything. Kearns fired all five committee members."
Damn! It's hard to get into the reason for the season if nobody takes it to heart!
