There actually IS something one can do, and it's in the tradition of our nation's founders...

It's a good thing I don't have kids. And it's a good thing I don't own a gun. Because if a concerted and repeated effort were undertaken by a dominionist org to convert a kid of mine after her or his initial objections, I might just confront them and FUCKING KILL THEM. Fortunately for them, I have neither kids nor guns. But if there is a serious attempt to turn the USA into Atwood's "Gilead," I might consider some purchases. (Purchases of guns, not kids!)

FWIW, re the dominionists who ran the Texas SBOE and set curriculum for public schools, the changes they made to history curricula were NOT merely religious; they were also political. In one secondary school history text, the section on Thomas Jefferson was reduced to a scant mention, while the section on Ronald Reagan was extended (IIRC) to approximately chapter length.

I know about the Texas history textbooks. Thank you for fighting the good fight (remembering your wonderful dad). I am glad you don't have kids nor guns, you'd be kinda exciting to be around during the school board curriculum discussions....
