A giant rodent five times the size of a common rat has been discovered in the mountainous jungles of New Guinea.
The 1.4kg Mallomys giant rat is one of two species of mammal thought to be new to science documented on an expedition to an area described as a "lost world".

Awww what a cutie. Can I have one?
ReplyDeleteGet them now, before we cause their extinction!
ReplyDeleteI'd think treating them as collectibles would only hasten that.
ReplyDeleteMaybe they'll taste good too!
ReplyDeletemm. tastes like nutria.
ReplyDeleteBut that is a South American rodent! This is New Guinea rodent! Much more flavorful.
ReplyDeleteBut nutria sounds more nutritious. And the New Guinea rodents association would like you to know they taste bad.
ReplyDeleteI thought the giant rat was of Sumatra... at least that's the one Dr. Watson alluded to...
ReplyDeleteGah! If Sherlock Holmes was concerned about the Giant Rat of Sumatra, I think we all better be.
ReplyDeleteMaybe these will be of even more concern. And I don't think they'll be nutritious, either!
